I am actually writing this blog in the plane, on my way back from US, 1 hr from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, 15.5 hrs from Los Angeles to Hongkong and another 4hrs from Hongkong to Kuala Lupur. So basically I will be loosing the whole Thursday and 1/2 day for Friday due to time difference. Well… thats something you cannot control.

Event Solutions Idea Factory 2011 was held in The Cosmopolitan, newest hotel on Las Vegas Strips, opened just 1 month ago. It was a pity that there was no room left when I registered. The room was very beautiful and modern. Nice view of the strips, you could see the Bellagio’s fountain, Paris Hotel from there. Here are two photos taken from the room that my friend stayed. Well back to the conference, the first day is just a 1/2 day. Arrived at about 11am to pick up the Name Badge, all the tickets for the party in the evening and the tote bag with the schedule it it. This year the bag is black and purple in colour, not bad yeah. There are 3 parallel sessions going on at all time, so you will have to choose the one you want to attend.

So the first session attended was on “Customer Service as a Key Differentiator: Moving from Good to Great”. A Summary to this: A Great Product, Great Customer Service and a great customer feedback mechanism. Attended another 3 more sessions before heading to the Welcome Reception at The Cosmopolitan Boulevard Pool Deck, Level 4.

The Cosmopolitan pool overlooks the Strips and the multilevel space offers a TV lounge, table tennis, pool tables and comfy furniture. Below are some photos taken during the welcome party. Very cool place just to chill out with friends.

I was one of the finalist for the spotlight award, all the finalists are invited to a designated area to receive a ribbon and special tag. Wine, beer and desserts are being served. Was glad to finally met Carolyn Baragona (Founder and Spotlight Awards Director), She introduced me to Dan Maddux (CEO of the MEET Las Vegas). MEET LasVegas is where the 2011 Event Solutions Spotlight Award and Hall of Fame Induction will be held. I m also glad to catchup with Phil, I knew him from the first Event Solutions that I attended back in 2009. He is the founder and owner of the biggest off-site caterer in Sacramento.
